MY STORY

How I became a photographer of beautiful hideaways.

CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

From an early age I was fascinated by architecture and interiors.

It started as a little girl, when my parents wanted to move. At that time we went out every weekend to see potential houses for sale. Mostly old houses with lots of authentic details.

In the back of the car, staring out of the window, I saw the most beautiful houses passing by, I fantasized what they would look like inside and started dreaming I was living there.

DREAM GOES ON

The love for beautiful old houses and buildings with their exquisite interiors has stayed.

HOUSE FOR SALE

I studied real estate and architecture classes were my favorite. After my studies I worked for a real estate office for several years. I have seen so many great houses pass by. And when a house came up for sale, I couldn’t wait for the pictures to come in, because the photographer of the agency where I worked always captured the homes so beautifully.

HISTORIC BUILDINGS

And. I love to visit beautiful cities with their history and great architecture. When I walk through the streets, I always look at the exterior of the buildings and where possible I also go inside to see the interior.

Of course I always capture all that beauty with my camera.

FINDING THE MOST EXQUISITE HIDEAWAYS

And for our holidays, I spend hours looking for that special accommodation.

A hotel with the atmosphere of long by or a holiday home lovingly decorated by the owners with beautiful interior treasures.

On holiday, just after arrival, before we unpack the suitcases & the pool is filled with airbeds,
I always take my camera to take pictures of the accommodation, the garden and the interior

FROM GUEST TO PHOTOGRAPHER

These photos of the beautiful accommodations were we stayed, I always sent to the owners.
One of them was Lydia Mennes, owner of rental site France Villa.

She was always so enthusiastic about my photo series that she asked me to capture some of the houses they had on file.

IN BUSINESS

And then in September 2016 I flew for the first time to France, the Dordogne, for France Villa.

For a week I drove my rental car along the most beautiful country roads and was allowed to photograph wonderful accommodations. Mostly from French owners, which was sometimes a nice challenge because I only speak ‘un petit peu’ French.

And so my photography adventure started in France and Escape into the light, atmospheric photography of exquisite hideaways became a fact!

AND NOW

I no longer work only for France Villa but also for Dutch, Belgian and English people living in the Dordogne and Lot et Garonne and renting out a holiday home, a glamping, a boutique hotel or a chateau.

In Spring and Autumn I always plan a couple of photoshoot weeks in France. Because then the accommodations are not rented (yet) and the gardens are (still) beautiful and the swimming pools filled.

WORK FIELD

My working area in France is expanding. In the meantime I have already.made pictures on the Cote d’Azur, in the Auvergne, Geneva and this month I will go to the Beaujolais.

In my own country, the Netherlands, but also in Switzerland and on Bonaire I have already been able to capture beautiful accommodations.

DREAM JOB

I can’t think of a better job. Traveling to beautiful accommodations all over the world and capturing them. Delivering an exceptionally beautiful collection of photos to the owners which they can use on their website and social media.

So that potential guests, scanning for accommodations on the internet, can see these photos and already feel completely welcome and impressed by the beauty of the accommodation, that they don’t have to look any further and book their stay.

HERE I GO AGAIN

In 2 weeks time I will go EN ROUTE through France again to capture a lot of beauty.
From Versailles to the Lot et Garonne, from the Dordogne via Geneva to Beaujolais and back to the Netherlands.

Of course there will be a blog about my work trip later on. Can’t you wait? Travel with me by following my stories on Instagram from 11 to 21 September.

Love to see you there.
